The Mitsubishi ASX has been a leader in the compact SUV market for over a decade, standing as a testament to versatility and dependability from narrow city streets to the open road. The ASX has also earned a reputation for reliability, but to keep it reliable, ensuring its servicing and maintenance is up to scratch is a must. The oils and filters in your car have a limited life span and if neglected, could lead to a costly trip to the mechanic.
Familiarising yourself with your vehicle’s service intervals is key when it comes to keeping up with regular maintenance. As always, we recommend taking your Mitsubishi ASX to your local mechanic for servicing.
When you’re up for your next service, make sure you’ve got everything you need before you begin. In this Service My Car Article, we cover replacing the engine oil and oil filter, air filter, and cabin air filter. To find out what part numbers you need, visit the Ryco Filters website and grab the details before heading down to your local parts store.
The Mitsubishi ASX uses a Ryco Z411 Oil Filter, an A1622 Air Filter, and an RCA182M MicroShield Cabin Air Filter. When it comes to the best quality service products, Ryco has you covered.
Starting with the oil and filter change, begin by raising the vehicle and placing your drain pan underneath. Then, undo the sump plug and drain the oil. We recommend doing this with the engine still warm to help the oil drain faster.
While the oil drains, remove the old oil filter and clean the oil filter mating surface. Then, apply a layer of new oil to the Ryco Oil Filter’s rubber gasket and fit the new oil filter to the engine.
Once the oil has finished draining, refit the sump plug with a new washer. From there, you can do your initial oil fill using a Ryco Flexi Funnel to prevent any mess. The 2.0L Petrol engine takes about 4.3 litres of oil. Once you’ve filled the engine to the correct amount, start it up and check for leaks.
To replace the air filter, undo the airbox clips and separate the lid from the airbox. Then, pull out the old air filter out and give the airbox a quick clean.
The new Ryco Air Filter can then be installed, making sure that the seal is seated correctly within the airbox before refitting the lid.
For the cabin air filter replacement, start by removing the glovebox to gain access to the cabin filter housing. Then, remove the filter housing lid and take out the old cabin air filter.
Clear the area of any debris then insert the new Ryco N99 MicroShield Cabin Air Filter with it facing in the correct airflow direction as indicated on the filter.
From there, the filter housing lid and glovebox components can be reinstalled. The MicroShield is made of N99 medical grade media and can stop viral and bacterial contaminants as well as other miniscule pollutants from making their way inside the vehicle by filtering out particles down to .3 micron.
Next, take the vehicle for a road test and make sure everything’s in good working order. Once the service is complete, fit a Ryco Service Sticker to note when the vehicle is due for its next service.
